I have recently finished my internship with the Church of Jesus Christ’s Ensign magazine. I gained considerable experience through that internship. I had the opportunity to create content based on magazine needs. I copyedited over 30 articles, proofread and copyedited prepress proofs, wrote social media posts, and conducted an in-person interview which I then edited into article format. These situations provided further understanding into writing for adult and young adult audiences. I also gained experience through my work at school. I was part of a team (each of us contributing 10+ hours of individual work) that copyedited a 304-page self-reliance manual. I was part of another team that copyedited an 88-page Master Development Plan for a Scout Camp. I also spent over 20 hours content editing a 386-page self-published novel that the author was looking to further revise to send to publishing houses. With that project, I wrote an over 2,000-word editorial letter detailing my edits.My internship helped me gain a knowledge of how beneficial it is to work as a group, how to manage projects simultaneously, and how to strive for high-quality finished products.
