My first experiences in a healthcare related setting were working with people with disabilities with their everyday living activities. During my work in this setting, one of my goals was making sure to show the people I worked with that they can do anything they set their mind on and made sure they had the proper tools to do so. These experiences have taught me many critical thinking skills and have shaped who I am today and the decisions I am making to further my education into the healthcare field. Working in a hospital has shown me both the medical and administrative side of how a hospital runs. Whether I am sitting at the nurse’s station doing administrative duties or helping the nurses with the patients as a patient care technician, I am constantly learning. In 2020, I helped integrate a new electronic health record system, which was instrumental in making the transition as smooth as possible for the health care providers. Working in a hospital strengthened my team building skills as well. Overall, working in a hospital has confirmed my choice in continuing my education and job experience in the healthcare field.
