• Designed clinical research project on the diagnosis and treatment process of movement disorders (primary dystonia’s)—a broad survey revealing how the United Kingdom outperforms the United States• Conducted 50+ interviews with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, outreach nurses, and clinical and preclinical research scientists to understand the successes and friction points in the diagnosis and treatment process• Observed DBS surgeries and pre- and post-operation symptom presentation• Interviewed many patient-run awareness/advocacy groups to determine the patient experience and identify well-executed or overlooked features of patient care • Wrote science communication articles for patient groups summarizing my findings on the patient diagnosis and treatment process experience in accessible, lay language• Presented findings on the diagnostic and treatment success in the UK compared to US at the 5th International Dystonia Symposium (Barcelona, Spain)• After completion, mentored 3 undergraduates on the extensive proposal and research process for the Richter Scholarship, who were ultimately selected for the award
