I am a Nukunu Aboriginal person committed to the holistic development of both individuals and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly in regards to personal development, health, employment and education.I have worked for over 11 years in the Government sector, and Universities at regional, state and national levels. My experience has been mainly in adult education, conducting and managing preparatory education programs. While in the Tertiary sector I have been principally involved in the development and presentation of Aboriginal and Islander studies and Cultural Awareness programs. I have presented an extensive variety of short and longer-term programs to a range of participants from both the private and public sector. More recently I have conducted cultural awareness field trips for health professionals and medical students, linking with Aboriginal medical services, Adelaide University medical school and the school of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia. These links have provided students with the opportunities to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and to provide easier articulation of medical and health sciences students into field placements in Aboriginal controlled medical and clinical locations servicing Aboriginal communities.I have worked successfully as a presenter and facilitator on a number of cultural programs and in the development of course material for adult students. I have facilitated small and larger groups, demonstrating the ability to identify key issues, focus participation and harness the skills, Knowledge and abilities inherent within groups. I conduct interactive non-confrontational cultural awareness program and activities.I am also treasurer for Aboriginal mens group Males in Black Inc. we are located in Port Augusta and have a membership of approximately 55 and growing.
