In my time at Palantir I primarily worked on defence engagements where I quickly earned many hats (technical lead, mentor, client partner, friend). I feel most proud to have delivered solutions which have directly saved lives and contributed toward bettering the world.This role included:- Full autonomy and responsibility to own solution design, technical execution and client relationships.- Decomposition of business needs and technical problems, working closely with the client. This required knowledge of the product's microservice architecture and understanding of the distributed systems that make up each service. Additionally, an awareness of data governance and information security principals.- Collaboration across internal teams and responsibility to know when to lean on internal resources for help.- An on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents with either underlying stack infrastructure or deployed production logic. This required efficient communication skills, system debugging skills and proactive decision making.- Time and resource management skills in balancing a wide range of responsibilities in parallel with disjoint stakeholder groups.- Building demo solutions for external stakeholder meetings and capture efforts.

In my time at Codethink I primarily worked on two projects with the GNOME Foundation:- Flathub authentication and Stripe integration for application vending and purchase. I led Codethink's frontend development efforts and dipped into the backend as needed. Flathub is a modern web application stack using FastAPI and SQLAlchemy in the backend. For frontend development I worked with Next.js, React and Tailwind CSS.- Dependency mirroring for the GNOME software stack. I took over from another engineer to merge the addition of blob mirroring into a Python tool called Lorry; have the tool deployed on GNOME's infrastructure using Ansible; and produce a Python command line tool to generate appropriate mirroring configuration from the gnome-build-meta BuildStream project.
