Currently I am a third year Chemical Engineering student studying in the biochemical engineering stream at Queen’s University. Becoming an engineering student has taught me much about time management, collaboration, communication, and resilience. Queen’s Engineering focuses on developing well-rounded engineers by equipping the next generation of students with strong collaboration, communication, and knowledge skills. I have grown to become a better engineer and employee because of these practices and have been able to apply them to several projects throughout the year. I have become proficient with analytical and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I am confident with engineering software’s, engineering drawings, how to read them and make them by hand or on SolidWorks. I have also been able to apply my skills to the Queen’s Bridge Building Design Team, where I put myself out of comfort zone, into another discipline of engineering to deepen my knowledge and to strengthen my problem-solving skills and resilience. This gives me the skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and leverage my biochemical knowledge.

General MemberQueen'S Bridge Building Team Sep 2022 - PresentKingston, Ontario, CanadaQueen’s Bridge Building Team (QBBT) is a design team at Queen’s which focuses on the design and construction of model bridges. These bridges measure around 1.5 m long, and are made of only popsicle sticks, white glue and dental floss. Every year, QBBT sends 5-6 bridges to the Troitsky Bridge Building Competition in Montreal, where universities from across North America compete to have the strongest and most efficient bridge. All teams submit their bridge into a hydraulic press that tests the strength of the bridge. Past bridges have sustained over 3500 kg (approximately the mass of two cars). -
