As an experienced director of a global management consultancy, I was responsible for corporate communications, marketing, branding, web content, editing of proposals, social media development and content, recruitment, logistical deployment of consultants, travel and budgeting. We have delivered programs for blue chip clients across the globe and industry-wide.

Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, George Weston Foods was one of the top two largest food producers in Australia comprised of baked goods, milling and deli meats. Housed at the corporate headquarters and reporting to the CEO, I was the corporate media spokesperson. I wrote speeches and press releases, drafted media speaking points and questions & answers for our senior executives and chairman, designed and wrote the company’s annual report, organized the annual general meeting, and constructed and implemented a crisis management plan. Working closely with the various business heads, my role oversaw internal communications as the company underwent restructuring.

The NRMA is Sydney’s roadside assistance service provider and, up until the turn of the millennium, was a mutually owned corporation alongside its sister insurance company. In August 2000, the NRMA demutualized, and the insurance arm split and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as IAG (Insurance Australia Group).During this contentious period of the company’s history, a team of communication specialists was recruited to oversee all aspects of public affairs for the demutualization and IPO. My responsibilities within the team included speech writing for the CEO, Chairman and other senior executives. I was a designated corporate spokesperson and media liaison. I drafted annual reports, organized annual general meetings, wrote and distributed press releases and was tasked with crisis management. Additionally, I prepared all staff for media interviews with background sheets and comprehensive Q & A’s.

As the Public Relations Manager of the retail bank of Citibank Australia, event planning and brand management were integral components of my role, from overseeing the planning of the Leadership Series, where 500 Australian business leaders were invited to attend an event featuring Colin Powell, to the Sir Elton John leg of the Elton John/Billy Joel concert, both sponsored by Citibank. Additionally, while in this role, Citibank merged with Salomon Smith Barney and became Citigroup. Our team was solely responsible for the Australian rebranding effort that went along with the merger. As with most PR jobs, I wrote press releases, drafted and edited speeches, initiated and oversaw sponsorships, liaised with media and created and implanted a crisis management plan.Significantly, while in this job, I wrote and won a grant for a Sydney based educational facility that assisted children with learning challenges.

Each child’s ability to express him or herself with suburb grammar, the ability to write cohesively, an appetite for literature, a love of learning and the ability to tap into that which made him or her unique determined my success.
