The Entrepreneurship Center at UCSF provides the knowledge, support and connections needed by scientists and clinicians to become entrepreneurs. The Center seeks to create an innovation ecosystem and to commercialize UCSF inventions through startup ventures. We support entrepreneurial interests in all areas of life science/healthcare.

Voz, “voice” in Spanish, is a contemporary fair trade fashion company that uses design innovation to provide a path for indigenous artisans out of poverty by connecting them to the fashion industry. We bring indigenous artisans, fashion designers and product designers together to collaborate and produce apparel that both represents Mapuche ethnic culture and appeals to high-end boutiques in metropolitan cities around the US and abroad. Our production process is pristine -- from natural wool to local plant dyes -- and our materials are selected for minimal impact on the environment. We use contemporary design as a vehicle to connect fair trade practices to wider international audiences, which in turn enables us to offer greater social benefits to those living in rural poverty.Currently, we are working with an extremely talented group of Mapuche weavers in rural Araucanía Chile as a pilot program to launch our very first fashion line in Winter of 2011. Over the next 5 years, VOZ hopes to partner with many more artisan groups in Chile, and South America and eventually expand to Africa and South East Asia. Our mission is clear: to make fashion more fair and fair trade more fashionable while empowering indigenous women professionally, financially and creatively.

-Worked with Director to craft the new program design for National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) 3.5-Launched new communication strategy surrounding repurposing NSSA sites for green technology development

- Recruited & developed 250 volunteers to engage voters and take campaign leadership - Acted as a liaison to the local democratic committee and delegate campaigns- Organized 8 events, including a 150-person event with the candidate in 36 hours

- Crafted & researched New Media training materials for national programs- Organized logistics for 55 participants for week long the 2009 BootCamp conference- Designed and proposed NOI Alumni Network program for former trainees

- Developed 10 week progressive political immersion program for 50 activist participants- Designed and produced introductory curriculum for new activists in the 2008 election- Trained and supervised 6 city captains in Cincinnati and Denver to support participants

- Organized and facilitated student workshops on policy and organizing- Developed curriculum & led Goldman Public Policy class for 40 students/semester - Recruited and managed faculty board members & student steering committee
