I enjoy looking at the English language from many angles by working with scholars who learned English as a foreign language and those who turned to academia as a second or third career. Past editorial projects have included manuscripts submitted to journals such as Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, Interdisciplinary Studies of Music, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Medical Decision Making, Pain Medicine, and Psycho-Oncology; and K99/R00 and R01 proposals to the NIH for early career nurse scientists. While I focus on clarity and conscious language, I pay close attention to authorial voice and intent as well as typographic and grammatical detail. I like semicolons and dashes; you don't have to!Past editorial projects have included adult, young adult, and middle grade fantasy and science fiction, including the Durga System books by Jessie Kwak, the Babel Trilogy by Richard Farr, and the award-winning "Dreams Before the Start of Time" by Anne Charnock. I'm a fan of space opera and hard sci-fi; paranormal romance and urban fantasy; epic, cozy, dark, and comic fantasy; and speculative literature from the post-apocalyptic to hopepunk. I also love to copy edit memoir and genre fiction with themes of social, international, and ecological justice.

I have been a member of the Northwest Editors Guild since 2005. I served on the conference committee for the 2007 and 2009 conferences and on the board of directors from 2012 to 2014. From 2016 through 2018, I coordinated the Guild's mentoring program, which matches early-career and experienced editors for one-on-one mentoring in professional skills and career planning. I recently joined the 2019 conference committee with a focus on ensuring accessibility and inclusion. I am happy to answer questions about editing and working with editors!

I served as administrator for the Author-Editor Clinic and copy edited and contributed to the Clinic's blog, The Editor's POV.

I provided part-time box office, administrative, and editorial services on a contract basis to Seattle's premier contemporary music ensemble.

I worked with the research team and with staff at five clinics at the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to contact and enroll patients in a randomized controlled trial to evaluate an online quality of life survey. I collected data, cleaned data, and proofread related research reports.
