Over the past few years, I have been studying Interior Architecture at San Diego State University. I have thoroughly enjoyed my education here, with insightful and impactful professors, who have not only taught me about design but shared their passion and wisdom through attentive critique and constructive criticism. One of the most unique experiences I've had at San Diego State is the Art emphasis the University places on my major. Through requiring art electives, I have expanded my creativity beyond design, learning foundations for ceramics, drawing, painting, and sculpture. As graduation approaches I feel confident and well-rounded in my skills and creative problem-solving abilities and I am eager to start my career in Design.Over one summer recess during school, I was fortunate to work as a Design Assistant at Baron and Baron Design. During my time here I learned invaluable skills, in communicating and working with clients, contractors, and other professionals whose jobs overlap with Interior Design. As I've learned, communication and documentation are two of the most important skills when working as a Designer, so that projects can be executed to their maximum potential and specifications of the clients and designer can be brought to fruition. Working alongside Gloria Baron, the owner, observing her thoughtful and assertive interactions with clients and contractors allowed for respectful education to clients about certain design decisions and collaboration with other construction professionals. I am grateful for this experience and look forward to applying these skills I've learned to my personal career.
