Internship Physiology - Exercise Oncology
During my second internship of the Biomedical Sciences master's degree, I was responsible for planning, organising, conducting and analysing a pilot study. This pilot study examined the feasibility of a twice weekly combined aerobic and resistance exercise intervention supervised by an oncological physiotherapist, and a daily supervised in-hospital aerobic exercise intervention prior to radiotherapy, during neoadjuvant chemoradiation treatment in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer. The secondary purpose was to gain insight into preliminary effects of these exercise interventions on physical fitness and treatment related-toxicity. My responsibilities in the study involved recruiting and screening patients, conducting inclusion interviews with potential participants, communicating with stakeholders (e.g. laboratory, patients), managing and monitoring patients in the study, performing study measurements and daily exercise sessions with patients in the hospital, and collecting and analysing data.

Internship Sint Maartenskliniek - Research & Innovation
During my first internship of the Biomedical Sciences master's degree, I actively contributed to designing, conducting and analysing a feasibility study, carried out at the Sint Maartenskliniek. This feasibility study aimed to explore the acceptability of therapy with intramuscular methylprednisolone in hand osteoarthritis among healthcare providers and hand osteoarthritis patients, and investigated the response to a single methylprednisolone injection.

Internship Cardiology - Coronary Vascular Dysfunction
During the internship, I actively contributed to conducting a retrospective study aimed at setting up a risk classification model for patients with coronary vasomotor dysfunction by focussing on coronary tortuosity. A very important and interesting part of my internship tasks was analysing and assessing more than 200 coronary CT angiographies based on different markers of coronary tortuosity.
