My life’s work, both professionally and personally, is rooted in my value of community building and community healing. I have spent the last several years mentoring youth and advocating for families, while also studying the very systems that created and enforce the plights of certain populations in our past and present society. My passion is to work within communities—particularly those that share my heritage— on understanding, coping with, and ultimately healing historical and intergenerational trauma. I value involvement in this work on both a micro and macro level, from individual advocacy to systemic social change. This work is about youth, families, communities, and the larger society. This work, for example, is about disrupting a familial lineage of poverty, unpacking a people’s history of disenfranchisement, while also creating a system that prioritizes equity and access in the first place. This work encompasses a multitude of interests, skills, and knowledge that I have developed and continue to develop through my experiences. I look forward to deepening and expanding these efforts throughout my career, and I’m happy to connect with people and agencies with similar objectives.
