Culture of Safety, LLC is a small business that offers empowerment-based violence prevention – specifically empowerment-based self-defense classes, as well as classes addressing harassment prevention, de-escalation, bystander intervention, and mindfulness for kids, youth, teens, and adults in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. We create cultures of safety, strength, and respect in schools, workplaces, and communities through our empowerment-based trainings across the city of Chicago and suburbs.Culture of Safety serves both individuals and organizations such as small businesses, large corporations, community groups, schools and educational facilities (K – 12 and higher education), nonprofit organizations, and private groups.

I'm excited to have been engaged in a short-term consulting project for The BodyLux Rx. My primary duties were to:(1) Develop and deliver staff training for front desk personnel to strengthen them in areas of assertive communication, non-verbal communication, and other important psycho-educational skills in the customer service industry. (2) Utilizing my organizational skills and my deep knowledge of MindBody Client software, analyze the current use of the system and recommend changes in tasks lists for front desk personnel in order to improve member retention.(3) Manage and implement a short-term marketing campaign to re-engage past clients and increase membership of current clients in the VIP Membership services offered. One goal is to create a series of tasks for ongoing maintenance of member retention which front desk personnel can continue over time. (4) Some community engagement tasks, as needed.

As Community Programs and Development Manager, I'm responsible for Thousand Waves programming that promotes community engagement as well as builds our capacity for contributed income. Duties include (but are not limited to):• Administer the Scholarship Program, including managing the application process, maintaining scholarship program records, and interfacing with karate students/families surrounding their enrollment and scholarship offers.• Organize/Facilitate Meditations on Activism and other ad hoc community programming/events that align with our organizational mission.• Facilitate and provide consultations with families in need of conflict resolution skills for children.• Organize and track volunteers and their effort throughout Thousand Waves’ programs• Facilitate the engagement of teens, a vital constituency within Thousand Waves.• In consultation with the Executive Director and other staff, consider incoming requests and build partnerships with external organizations to further our reach in the community• Coordinate and administer all aspects of our peer to peer fundraising efforts.• Research, coordinate, and write grant applications consistent with the organization’s strategic plan.• Increase the ability of businesses to support our mission-driven work with sponsorships.• Administer donor records, ensure donation systems/infrastructure needs are met.As a Staff instructor, I teach in both the Self-Defense/Violence Prevention and Seido karate programs.Thousand Waves as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fitness, healing, empowerment, and peacemaking in Chicago.

My primary duties involve grant-writing and development of administrative materials to support Thousand Waves as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fitness, healing, empowerment, and peacemaking in Chicago. Additionally I manage correspondence and organize volunteers for special events at the center. I additionally support Thousand Waves' administrative needs through Front desk work as needed, in addition to my continued work teaching the Violence Prevention/Self-Defense and Children's Karate programs.

I teach karate in the kids program: juniors and youth (age 5-12 or so).
