    The focus of this project is the creation through engineering of an (S)-selective amine dehydrogenase. Applying a screening assay based on the oxidative deamination of a racemic substrate to a ketone product, a library of 77 plates was screened. After optimizing the screening assay, the D-AADH (D-amino acid dehydrogenase)variants with the highest potential were chosen for further analysis. Failing to detect the ketoneproduct, the screening assay was verified with the use of Ch1-AmDH (chimeric amine dehydrogenase) instead of D-AADH variants with the use of the cofactor NAD+. A final screeningassay was employed, grounded in the best set of experiments but did not present any positive outcome.
