I am John Paul Donaghy.I first entered the interiors industry whilst at school in 1996 in the form of work experience with a window blinds company run by my cousin. ( I was a mere 14 years old )It was there that it all began.I was primarily shown the different types of blinds available at that time and what was in fashion locally in those days.on my first days although very daunting I began to learn with on the job training how to manufacturer headrail for vertical blinds. I progressed on through to cutting vertical blind louvre slats and finishing scallop edged roller blinds. After some time I was then brought out of the workshop and I began to learn how to fit an array of different blinds including vertical, roller, venetian, and skylight roof blinds.Throughout those years I learnt a lot. I learned in detail about manufacturing and fitting. I learned how to answer the phone and speak to customers in a polite and professional manner.I learned about colour schemes and how to colour match to the décor of the different rooms and spaces including which kind of fabrics go best in wet rooms kitchen and bathroom as opposed to bedrooms and living room and then of course the different colours and fabric types you can use in the home or in a professional office studio, office block or indeed a school.It was a lot to take in.Furthermore,I moved on from the window blinds industry and began another job and ventured into the bespoke curtains and soft furnishings interior industry.WOWSERS.I thought I knew it all.No Noand I not just talking about the fabrics.Although this was still interiors and still to do with window dressings, AGAIN - I had a lot to learn.
