As a Freelance Researcher I undertook qualitative interviews, analysis and reporting and rapid evidence review for IES. In 2020 I assisted the Youth Futures Foundation assessment of grant applications to their What Works Programme. Jan-July 2021 I took on a temporary contract with IES to support all aspects of work within their Public Policy research team.

Burgess Hill, West Sussex

Contributed to the data collection, reporting and marketing of specialist brain injury Linkworker service supporting prisoners and young offenders with brain injuries. Undertook project management, project support, recruitment and line management for the Foundation team.

This role involved project managing large-scale evaluations of employment programmes aimed at helping the long-term unemployed and disadvantaged groups enter and sustain work. In particular I project managed the evaluation of the Work Programme looking into the effect of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioning strategy on the provision of employment support for the long-term unemployed. This role included overseeing a team of researchers carrying out over 100 in-depth interviews, each year for three years, with Work Programme providers, Jobcentre Plus and DWP staff.In 2014 I oversaw a piece of work which culminated in the report 'Fit for Purpose: transforming employment support for disabled people'. This report outlined a number of recommendations around the reforms needed to employment support available to disabled people and those with health conditions. I was also part of the team evaluating Work Choice, a specialist employment programme helping disabled people enter and sustain employment. I was also involved a number of evaluations of welfare reforms, including the quantitative and qualitative evaluations of Lone Parent Obligations. This reform saw thousands of single parents move from Income Support to Jobseeker's Allowance.

At BMRB I was part of the quantitative research team within the Social Research unit. My role included the design, development, project management, analysis and reporting of large-scale quantitative surveys. This included the Longitudinal Survey of Young People in England which tracked 15,000 young people through the later years of compulsory education into subsequent education and ultimately employment. I also worked on a number of customer satisfaction surveys for the Pension Service. I used SPSS extensively for data analysis of these surveys.

I worked in the British Crime Survey (BCS) team analysing and reporting findings from the British Crime Survey. I co-authored numerous published reports during my 1 year placement with the team, as part of my Sociology degree, and as a temporary Research Officer after graduating from the University of Surrey.
