Patient Access Representative
Current• Conducts in and outpatient interviews in a courteous and confidential manner in order to obtain and record patient demographic, insurance and financial information via Star and Clearwave.• Prepares the patient chart and scans all pertinent documents including physician orders, consents, insurance cards, and photo identification into the document imaging system.• Verify insurance eligibility (HMO, PPO, Medicaid, Medicare and Private) and benefits for all applicable insurance companies utilizing the electronic insurance verification system.• Complete patient admissions accurately and within timely manner, by discharging patients from the Emergency Department to Inpatient Status, update patient information within system, insure all admission documents are signed and scanned, and provide update patient ID bands.• Explanation of Medicare Patient Rights letter (IMM) from Medicare to patients being admitted into the hospital.• Identifies all appropriate printed material hand-outs for the patient and provides them to the patient/guarantor (Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA Privacy Act notification, Advance Directive, etc.)• Maintains up - to - date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.• Provides superior customer service to all customers accurately and timely in a positive manner. Demonstrates ability to multitask and prioritize with frequent interruptions. Provides accurate patient information. Demonstrates exceptional problem solving skills. Courteously answers department telephone identifies facility and department.• Effectively utilizes all information tools and resources maintained by the department.• Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention.
