Commanding Officer of University Royal Navy Unit (URNU) Liverpool. Responsible for all operations including recruiting, training design and delivery, regulation compliance and personnel development. Leadership of 60 personnel including staff and trainees in a variety of environments and conditions. Financial control of a £100,000pa budget to facilitate a diverse and engaging training program. Responsible for OFSTED and HSE compliance and continuous improvement activity. Carried out the role of Regional Chief of Staff, coordinating the work of other North England Region units.

Service capability and safety manager for 6 engineering management applications (incl. GOLDesp ETLS) utilised across defence for the management of aircraft maintenance. Responsible for project management for the delivery of application technical refreshes and investigation/resolution of live issues in response to issues with an airworthiness implication. Additionally I have coordinated the development of user requirements, contracting, testing and delivery of products/services. Role included liaison across all 3 services in defence, civil service and external civilian contractors.

Senior Lieutenants position on RNs busiest operational squadron. Responsible for the maintenance management and planning of 15 Wildcat HMA Mk2 Helicopters slated for a high volume of operation commitments throughout the period. Continuous rapid response management activity required regularly in response to national and international emergencies and events. Utilising engineering authorisations to hold and manage airworthiness risk on live airframes on a daily basis. Key responsibilities included ownership of continuous airworthiness management activity at the squadron, reporting cumulative risk and compliance activity to the MilCAM. Heavy involvement in the management of squadron quality management system, both as an auditor and section head. Included the leadership and management of 140 engineers, alongside a squadron leadership team.

Junior Lieutenants position on the RNs busiest operational squadron. Responsible for the support equipment, tools and deployable kit provided to support operation of Wildcat Maritime Force (WMF). Included leadership and management of a 20 man support section. Pan platform coordination of shared equipment resource against dynamic priorities. Completed role to allow early progression to senior Lieutenants position.

Course delivered over an academic year, covering degree level knowledge of key aircraft systems both avionic and mechanical. Second half of the course addresses maintenance management of aircraft on operational RN squadrons, culminating in a testing viva conducted over 4 hours.

Course delivered at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth. Leadership and RN core values development over a 30 week course, carried out across two terms with a mix of core military and maritime specific leadership skills.

After completing the Admiralty Interview Board, while undertaking my GCSEs, I gained a place on the DTUS scheme. This secured sponsorship by the MOD during my studies for A-Levels and my degree. The DTUS scheme focusses on delivering extensive leadership and management training. This training was completed alongside my degree. As a result, I am both confident and competent in leadership roles and working as part of a team.
