I received my Associate of Science Degree in Chemistry in 2018 and transferred to CSU Chico for my bachelor's. Some major courses are tough to get into if anyone knows the STEM degrees in college! During my first semester there, I didn’t have the chance to take my major classes. But two of my GE courses changed my mind. When taking “Sustainability Issues” and “Environmental Ethics” and experiencing the pain of the Camp Fire in my community a few months after moving here, I developed a pent-up rage for environmental issues. I knew I needed to be an environmental advocate, take action, and do everything possible to help mitigate the climate crisis. My passion for studying the Earth’s biomes and processes grew quickly and tremendously. Though it was my first semester, I changed majors to become an Environmental Scientist focusing on Applied Ecology. I’m grateful to say I quickly transitioned into my field, gaining a job that lets me work towards a more sustainable future in all possible ways - energy efficiency, soil health, waste management, material optimization, and more.Please join me in helping shape our, our children's, and all generations' futures - hoping it can be better than what we have experienced.
