About Lacey Johnson

My name is Lacey M. Johnson but my friends and colleagues know me as “Lacey Leads”, a reputation I've earned by leading great teams who turn complicated ideas into reality. Thus far, my life has been dedicated to closing existing gaps between community and capital. I spent over six years working for a local elected official in Los Angeles where I developed policy and public infrastructure that catalyzed investment in underserved communities like the one I'm from. During that time, I managed over 150 capital projects exceeding $2B of investment in affordable housing, transportation, small business development and more in low-income communities of color. Currently, I’m a proud first-generation graduate student pursing her JD/MBA at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management on a full academic scholarship. I've focused my studies on the synergies between impact investing, entrepreneurship law and community development finance with the hope of discovering the next effective vehicle for catalytic community development. I find joy in serving on nonprofit boards, being a community college alum turned professor, and working on my legal tech startup. Outside of my professional passions, I spend time with my husband and beagle pup, make crocheted clothing and enjoy step aerobics!
