About Lacey Mcnary, Dsw, Msw

With over 20 years of experience in non-profit leadership, research, evaluation, organizational development, and policy analysis and advocacy, I am a social work leader and advocate with a passion for system change and racial and social justice. I hold a DSW, MSW, and BSW from accredited and recognized institutions, and I am currently the CEO of McNary Group, a consulting firm that provides expert and experienced services to organizations across the country who want to get results and achieve their goals, especially in the non-profit, foundation, and community sector. As the CEO of McNary Group, I leverage my skills and knowledge in workshop facilitation, community development, community organizing, and stakeholder engagement to efficiently increase organizational capacity and add value to organizations. I assist organizations in seeking statute and regulation changes, obtaining grant funding, building networks and hosting effective gatherings, understanding stakeholders, researching for results, thinking strategically, and developing reports and other documents to drive systems change. I have also co-authored several publications on topics such as school health services, child and youth policy coordination, and developmental screener use in West Louisville. I am done with the status quo and tired of incrementalism. I want to work with other leaders and advocates who share my vision of creating a better and more equitable society for families and communities.

I joined the staff at Kentucky Youth Advocates in 2002 and served in many roles at the organization. I excelled in arranging complex situations with many moving parts into cohesive statewide system changes to benefit children in Kentucky. Recent successes include leading a planning effort to improve oral health outcomes by developing a statewide oral health literacy campaign. I directed the Kentucky Oral Health Coalition. I am adept at designing, initiating and sustaining a variety of projects and programs in several portfolio arenas, including health, early childhood, and child welfare.I established critical linkages and fostered collaboration between diverse leaders at the local, state and national levels around influencing key decisions on behalf of children and families. I lead successful short and long term strategic planning efforts including various parts of the Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children. I provided leadership in the in the passage of several state level policy changes including allowing more time for children aging out of foster care to go to college, passage of the kindergarten entry dental screening bill, the inclusion of BMI collection on the school physical form, the removal of the face to face interview for children’s health insurance, and the passage of booster seat legislation in Kentucky. I also lead efforts to convene and train advocates and volunteers in sharing their point of view with decision makers. I was the the founding leader of the decade old Children’s Advocacy at the Capitol campaign as well as the designer and facilitator of a Child Advocacy Fellowship project. I collaborated with national foundations and organizations to bring critical advocacy funding into the state to make Kentucky the best place in America to be young including the Annie E Casey Foundation, the DentaQuest Foundation, Save the Children, the Ford Foundation, the Packard Foundation, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
