Completed my apprenticeship with Burgess BLA, starting at the age of 16 I was fortunate enough to gain exposure and experience through many areas of the industry.My time in the workshop gave me the opportunity to learn/carry out complete refurbishments of a large array or equipment. Ranging from small conveyor gearboxes right up to large pitman assemblies and large Mill drive gearboxes.My time of site has been extremely exciting so far with being lucky enough to travel all over Australia and Internationally sometimes carrying out works including:•Installation/reversal of Ball and SAG Mill girth gear assemblies.•Replacement and installation of Mill drivetrain equipment.•Replacement and installation of Swingjaw, gyrotary and cone crusher assemblies.•Installation of Trunnion bearing assemblies including HSB, white metal slipper and spherical roller bearing installation and replacement.•Recently been apart of the repair of trunnion journals utilising the companies trunnion journal machine.•Laser alignment of a large selection of equipment utilising a range of models and working to tolerances of +/- 0.01mm.The knowledge amongst everyone and the willingness to pass on the knowledge has been the part of BLA that has made me happiest and feel at home at the workplace and the pride and quality of work that we strive for and achieve is second to none.
