Manager Of Maintenance & Operations
The Maintenance & Operations department at The City of Port Phillip is responsible for the provision of all amenity, maintenance and emergency management functions. The position is also responsible for day-to-day HR matters including reward and recognition, professional development, performance management, and recruitment.• Preparation of annual team operating budget, including cost and revenue forecasting and contingency planning. • Reporting to senior management, the executive management team and Council on high profile projects as well as overall portfolio time and financial positions.• Development and implementation of several major process improvements in project management, site management, records management and financial accounting.
Manager Strategic Projects (Acting) (Various Occasions)
Manningham City Council encompasses urban and semi-urban areas in north-east Melbourne, with the city home to approximately 115,000 people. The Roads Engineer position is situated within the Technical Services group of the Engineering & Technical Services unit of Manningham City Council. The Technical Services group, headed by the Technical Services Engineering Coordinator, is responsible for the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects such as road and drainage projects, as part of Council’s annual capital works program.In the Roads Engineering position, I was responsible for the civil design, procurement, and supervision of the construction of large stormwater drainage projects and road projects, of up to $2.2M in value.I project managed the feasibility, stakeholder engagement, detailed design, and procurement stages of the award- winning Bolin Bolin Billabong Wetland Project. The project is a large-scale stormwater recycling project that crosses municipal boundaries and is to be implemented as a joint-venture between the cities of Boroondara and Manningham along with many other stakeholders including private sector, non-profit sector, and state and federal government.

The position of project manager reported to the coordinator capital works within the Engineering & Technical Services unit. I was responsible for the implementation of various civil infrastructure projects including road works and bicycle network infrastructure.During this time, I was responsible for the management of a stormwater harvesting project in conjunction with Trinity Grammar School. The project was highly commended by the peak industry association, Stormwater Australia, in 2011.Whilst in this role I was also selected to participate in a local government capacity building program facilitated by Melbourne Water’s Living Rivers Program. The program involved a part-time secondment to the engineering design consultancy GHD Pty Ltd for a period of eight months.
Superintendent'S Representative/Assistant Project Manager
Between 2010 and 2013, Manningham City Council undertook its most significant ever project, the construction of the $35M MC2 community hub. The building was constructed at the same site as the existing civic centre, making managing the construction impact highly complex.The project, under oversight of the Director of Assets and Engineering, was managed by the project manager. I worked as an assistant to the project manager and as the superintendent’s representative for the early works, civil, and ground works for the project.I was responsible for working with the appointed builder and stakeholders to coordinate the works to ensure reduced impacts upon the operation of the adjacent civic and function centre. In that capacity, I was responsible for reporting on construction activities to the project steering committee, comprised of senior executives of Council.
