Lachlan developed and maintained an Australian Policy set, risk assessment reporting, and GRC technology deployment, while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security standards, NIST RMF and the ACSC ISM and Essential Eight. Additionally, Lachlan supported the delivery of solutions to address regulatory & compliance requirements, maintains accreditations with relevant Australian defense authorities, and develops relationships with external stakeholders.

As the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at L3Harris Micreo, Lachlan provided diligent oversight of security arrangements and actively fosters a culture of security within the organization. Key responsibilities include maintaining the obligations of a level three DISP member, supporting the Managing Director in ensuring the safety of personnel, information, and assets, and managing all aspects of Security Governance, Physical Security, Information/Cyber Security, and Personnel Security. Lachlan also served as the System Owner for classified systems, embedding effective security management awareness and practices and safeguarding sensitive and classified materials. Additional duties involve managing potential security crises, implementing security training programs, establishing performance measures for security procedures, and disseminating relevant intelligence and threat information within the organization.

In the role of Assistant Agency Security Advisor at CSIRO, Lachlan harnesses expertise in operational security to reshape personnel and protective security procedures. Making recommendations on sensitive security matters to the Agency Security Advisor and senior leadership, Lachlan takes the lead of a small team ensuring consistent and effective execution of security administration. Overseeing access to personal, sensitive, and security classified information, Lachlan provides critical advice on security policy and staff applications. Liaising with stakeholders across CSIRO, Lachlan tailors security solutions to their needs and represents CSIRO externally within the security sector. Proven in influencing strategic direction and translating it into effective security operational outcomes, Lachlan fosters trust and encourages innovative thinking within the team.

The Security & IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all security and ICT services in coordination with DFAT Canberra, serving various agencies within the High Commission as per agreed Service Level Agreement standards. Key responsibilities include managing security services for the High Commission, leading the Security Section, preparing security instructions and procedures, reviewing crisis plans, advising on fire safety, and managing post security budgets and contracts. The role also involves managing the IT services team and the use and maintenance of chancery technical and physical security equipment.
