My enjoyment of economics comes from a fascination with understanding our world and society. This began with a love of history, and my proudest moment at school was winning the history prize. Studying history ultimately means writing arguments. Historians never seem to agree on what caused what. From this I learned that a deep understanding of many seemingly disparate parts is needed to see the whole.I carried this lesson through into my professional life, and even my hobbies. I saw that property investment strategy is not just about finance but about understanding industries, sectors, local environments, businesses, people, and much more. In my spare time I love to be outdoors, and can spend hours watching animals or birds, trying to recognise and understand their behaviours and environment. This is why economics fascinates me. It’s all about uncovering the true causes of things, and its tools apply across industries, subjects, and even behvaiours. Much like a historian who draws upon the political, economic, philosophical, and environmental to piece together a story of the past, I strive to work with teams across disciplines to tell the story of what drives and detracts from policy and commercial successes.
