Toll was awarded the NSW Ambulance southern region helicopter contract for the provision of medical retrieval and search and rescue commencing in 2017. Graduate of the Royal Military College – Duntroon (Australia). Appointed as an Army officer in a number of different command and management functions prior to undertaking Army flying training in 1993. 15 years operational experience flying Black Hawk helicopters in the Australian Army including overseas deployments to Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and East Timor. Qualified in search and rescue, airmobile operations and counter terrorism operations. Completed two years as an Australian Defence Force Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) on Squirrel Helicopters teaching ab-initio helicopter flying to Army and Navy student pilots. In addition qualified as an Instrument Rating Examiner.Filled a number of command and management appointments within both Army Headquarters and Aviation specific appointments. Extensive experience in the management of aviation resources and personnel in difficult and hostile environments. Commenced civilian employment in 2007 as a line search and rescue helicopter pilot for CHC Helicopters contracted to the NSW Ambulance service for the provision of rescue helicopters. In 2014, appointed as the Senior Base Pilot - Bankstown.Moved to Toll Helicopters in late 2016 as the Base Manager (Sydney) to help establish the base and crews for the commencement of flight operations in January 2017. In early 2019, after completing a flight instructor rating for the AW139 Type Rating, moved to a line pilot position where both line pilot and instructor activities were undertaken. In 2020 became the Pilot Human Factors Instructor undertaking both Human Factors facilitation and flight instructor duties at the ACE. In early 2021 was appointed the Manager Human Factors and completed the upgrade to Flight Examiner.Completed a Masters of Aviation Management through the University of Newcastle majoring in a number of aviation and management subjects whilst continuing as an Army Reserve Aviation Safety Officer and Safety Lead Auditor. Also completed the Human Factors for Transport Safety Investigators Course from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
