I began my career in education in August of 2007. I taught both 1st and 2nd grade for 12 years before moving into my current role as a literacy coach. During my time in education, I have served in many leadership capacities. I have led committees, mentored teachers, and served as a team leader. I have also provided professional development for many years at the school, district, and state levels through my role in Hoover City Schools and as a consultant for AMSTI. I have had the honor of being chosen as my school's representative for Jacksonville State Hall of Fame. I also pursued and achieved my National Board Certification which is a very high honor in the world of education. I have completed 2 years of Science of Reading training through LETRS (Language Essentials for Teaching Reading and Spelling). This experience was a game changer for me as it molded my practice and gave me even more knowledge and tools to help support teachers and students through literacy instruction. In my current role, I get the opportunity to work alongside and coach teachers in literacy education. I work with administration and district leaders to analyze data, make plans, and move our students and district forward. I recently was chosen to serve on the Alabama Task Force that developed the new ELA standards for our state. I have an unparalleled passion for education, educators, students, and literacy.
