Post-Doctoral Researcher - Ground Segment Dimensioning For Leo Constellations
The project focuses on researching computationally efficient methods to find the optimal set of gateway locations and designs that balances the cost vs quality of service tradeoff for a LEO constellation. This project is implemented using MATLAB.A side project consists in developing a random access procedure simulator following the 5G standard and using a LEO satellite as a base station. This project is implemented using Python.Technical environment:- MATLAB (2021a)- ULHPC (UniLu High Performance Computing)- Python (3.9.7)
Ph.D. - Resource Dimensioning Of Broadband Satellite Return Networks Affected By Rain Fade
The goal of the Ph.D. was to determine the satellite bandwidth, power, and carrier plan needed for the operations of return satellite networks sensitive to rain fade and its spatial correlation. Several solutions were provided for different fade mitigation technologies thanks to the partnership with SES.- Reduction of bandwidth consumption up to 30% compared to the existing literature. Demonstration of the importance of rain fade correlation, which can increase bandwidth consumption up to 50% compared to existing industrial solutions.- Implementation of a MATLAB link budget simulator for multibeam satellites including uplink, downlink, spatially correlated rain fade, and intra and inter-system interference. Optimization of code for the ULHPC, reducing the execution time by a factor of 30.- Publication of 2 scientific articles, including one in IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems. A third one is under revisions for the same journal.Technical environment :- MATLAB (2021a)- ULHPC (UniLu High Performance Computing)
