Hello! I'm Lacy Estes, an education enthusiast with a diverse background that spans from Business and Technology to Science Education and now, into the realm of Instructional Design. While I am a wife and mother to three teens by night, during the day I am a multifaceted educator with a spark to ignite a career in instructional design. Let's take a deeper dive into my career journey and skill set below.Starting with a Business MindsetI initially ventured into the dynamic field of Business and Accounting. After several years gaining experience from receptionist to accounts receivable/payable to controller, I discovered that I had a passion to train and educate. With a knack for leveraging technology to solve complex problems, I decided to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Business Technology Education. I valued the business skill set that I developed and planned to carry those real-world experiences into the classroom. Transitioning to K-12 EducationThe transition from the business sector into education was a bold one. Thinking my initial role as a Business Technology Teacher would begin immediately, I actually landed a role as a Science Teacher. I quickly discovered my LOVE for the content and picked up several certifications along the way. I embraced the role of a science teacher and championed experiential learning, encouraging students to ask questions, conduct experiments, and develop a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. The SparkMy district began working with Solution Tree and I discovered a passion for breaking down curriculum and designing lessons for effective learning. I enjoyed the role as a team member and eventually team leader. I enjoyed the analytics and crunching of data more than I'd like to admit. Here the spark for an Instructional Design career was born.Venturing into Instructional DesignBuilding on my experiences in both business and education, I discovered a passion for crafting effective and engaging learning experiences. This led me to explore the field of Instructional Design and ultimately to pursue a Graduate Degree in Learning Systems Technology Education. I believe that in this role, I can blend my technological expertise, educational background, and creative flair to design learning solutions that cater to diverse learners. I believe in the power of learner-centered design. My approach involves understanding the unique needs of the audience, incorporating interactive elements, and utilizing technology to create impactful and memorable learning experiences.
