I educated our staff, partners and higher education clients about sustainability education, sustainability pedagogy, transformative learning and behavior change. I edited and oversaw the development and revision of our suite of Discussion Courses on sustainability topics and our Ecochallenge platform and events. I applied sustainability learning theory to both our Discussion Courses and Ecochallenge.

- Produced and revised high quality educational materials that inspire action among NWEI course participants. Oversaw the production of three new discussion course books and revision of four discussion course books.- Engaged current and future NWEI community members through proactive outreach, support of existing contacts and community members, and volunteer coordination. - Managed the process of proofing, editing, gaining permissions and submitting changes to the publisher and printer.- Collaborated with outreach team on communications, including webpage, “salons” and other promotional materials. - Coordinated a curriculum committee comprised of volunteers and field experts to compile and assemble discussion courses that align with specifically selected audiences.- Presented and facilitated workshops on sustainability education, transformative learning, adult education, behavior change theory, and the NWEI pedagogical model.

* Partnered with two student groups and multiple community organizations to host a Sustainability Leadership Workshop on “Designing our Sustainable Future: Tools for Action” for a total of 48 participants. * Collaborated with three other students to initiate a design for a Permaculture Learning Garden that is currently being implemented on campus. Additionally, assisted in convening groups that led to successful initiatives on campus, including a volunteer program and a Student Sustainability Advisory Council. * Coordinated office schedules of one full-time and nine part-time staff, planned and facilitated weekly staff meetings, and planned and facilitated bi-annual visioning meetings. * Publicly represented Sustainability Leadership Center to school administrators and faculty, incoming and potential students, general student body, potential and current community partners, and volunteers. * Conducted outreach on campus and in community through EcoWiki website, email, and in-person networking. Recruited and coordinated volunteers and student workers and provided leadership development and mentorship. * Coordinated with other offices, student groups, and community partners to hold sustainability events and Student Sustainability Forums.

* Recruited participants for and conducted six student focus groups to gather information about students’ experiences with and perceived needs regarding sustainability curriculum at Portland State University. * Analyzed focus group data through grounded theory methods, and synthesized data in a report to the Institute for Sustainable Solutions. * Collected 185 syllabi of self-identified sustainability-related courses, developed a coding system and analyzed collected syllabi through grounded theory methods.

* Grew team leadership from two to eleven coordinators. * Fostered partnerships with over thirty new campus, community, and national organizations. * Co-coordinated twenty new student recruitment events, social functions, educational events, and service events, and two new student member orientations. These events included National Sustainability Education Week, which reached over 200 participants, and PSU Earth Week 2010, which reached thousands in the Portland community. * Planned, advertised, and coordinated bi-weekly student group meetings. * Completed organizational tasks such as planning a yearly calendar of events, completing necessary student group re-recognition paperwork, and planning trainings for student members.

* Worked with Outreach Coordinator to identity and connect with individuals, clubs, and organizations in the areas of higher education and faith communities. * Assisted with curriculum revision, analysis, and development of three discussion course books. * Analyzed current curriculum through a social equity and diversity lens. Researched and compiled list of sustainability sources focused on diversity and equity. Compiled list of local organizations focused on diversity and equity with which to pursue partnerships. * Organized two discussion groups and participated in five discussion groups using NWEI materials.

* Identified and contacted 200+ prospective students for each season and encouraged and assisted them throughout the application, acceptance, depositing and financial aid processes. * Hosted campus tours, campus visits, preview and scholarship days. * Advised transfer students with their academic schedules and curricular and extra-curricular activities.

∙ * Supervised the Simple Room Youth Center’s homework room. * Hired and coordinated three student tutors and multiple mentor positions. * Recruited targeted “at-risk” high-school populations for college preparatory workshops and events; planned, coordinated, and advertised campus events for targeted high-school students. * Connected students to resources such as admissions counselors, academic advisors, financial aid resources, and faculty and peer mentors * Coordinated with Trinity Christian College to plan and supervise a summer College Preparation Summit for Simple Room attendees.
