Disaster Monitoring and Analysis is crucial in disaster management and emergency response. It provides the much needed information to support decisions and enable prompt actions. Being passionate about Disaster Information Management, I joined the AHA Centre to contribute towards the achievement of ASEAN Vision 2025 to be the Global Leader in Disaster Management.In AHA Centre, I am responsible for carrying out activities pertaining to disaster preparedness and response; particularly in hazard monitoring and disaster risk level analysis and assessment. I also assist in implementing cooperation programmes and projects to further improve ASEAN disaster monitoring and assessment. And lastly, I assist in implementing activities to attain objectives stated in the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response work program and the Centre’s work plans.

Key Achievement:As a member of a two-man team, I was able to co-develop and co-implement the Data Warehouse Project of the Department, from a Data Analyst perspective. The Data Warehouse is a mechanism for analyzing the effectiveness of the different social protection programs of the Department. It provides manageable, cost-effective, and centralized repository of big data from various Enterprise sources, which allows the Department to make quick and well-informed decisions to further advance social welfare and development programs across the country.

Predictive Analytics for Humanitarian ResponseUtilizes machine learning to make predictions on potential disaster events to provide decision-support to the Department and other Government and Non-Government Partners in preparation for disaster response.2. DROMIC Virtual Operations Center (https://dromic.dswd.gov.ph/)An online platform dedicated for data and information dissemination. The platform also provides an avenue for beneficiaries to communicate their concern to the Department for appropriate action.3. DSWD-Inmarsat-UK Space Agency Emergency Telecommunications ProjectA partnership that provides the Department with state-of-the-art satellite telecommunications equipment and services to be used for rapid emergency response.4. DROMIC BulletinA semi-automated dashboard that utilizes the current technologies being used by disaster response information officers that provides near real-time visualized information to Government Officials.Concept Notes:1. Disaster Response Operations Monitoring Information SystemA fully automated system that gathers, analyzes, and provides real-time disaster response information to all stakeholders.2. Family Access Card for EmergenciesA beneficiary identification and benefit-delivery system that utilizes the latest technologies to ensure accurate identification of affected persons and the rapid delivery of relief.

Key Achievements and Contributions:1. DSWD Map Viewer (http://maps.dswd.gov.ph/)The DSWD Map Viewer is DSWD's one-stop, interactive, responsive, and online map viewer for all. It is an information hub for visualizing, analyzing, reporting, and sharing DSWD spatial datasets. It is a materialization of tomorrow's technological solutions which aims to ready the Department in its bid to be the world's standard for the delivery of coordinated social services and social protection for poverty reduction by 2030.2. Philippine Evacuation Centers (https://saantatakbo.crowdmap.com/)The Philippine Evacuation Centers Map is DSWD's platform for crowd-sourcing evacuation centers mapping. It is an ongoing multi-level data gathering project which aims to locate all evacuation centers in the country. The database is currently being studied for recommendation of technological solutions to ensure a faster, more efficient, and cost-effective disaster response.3. National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (NDRRMC) Information Management Technical Working Group (IM-TWG) (http://digitaleducation.net/im-twg/)The IM-TWG is the newest group in the NDRRMC, established through Memorandum Circular No. 02 Series of 2016 on 18 January 2016. It was born from a technical paper I co-authored in 2013 with Dir. Felino O. Castro V and Dr. Steeve Ebener, highlighting the importance of Information Management in DRRM, and two years of hard work to rally support among NDRRMC members. The group is responsible for establishing a sustainable and long-term Information Management Framework and System for the NDRRMC.
