I started my career as a high school teacher and later lecturer for the Western Cape Education Department. After completion of a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management, I ventured into educational and trade publishing and worked in-house for 4 years. This has provided me with skills and knowledge to design and develop learning materials The freelance projects that I conduct for publishing companies, and TVET/FET and Higher Education contexts, are content generation, writing, editing and project management. I can unpack curricula, such as CAPS or Occupational Qualification write manuals/textbooks. My focus in most of the work I do, is on the development of leadership and management in education to improve learner performance. My facilitation and mentoring skills have been applied across a range of work-related contexts. For the past 12 years, I have been contracted by the Schools Development Unit (SDU) at UCT in capacities, such as mentoring, facilitation on the School Improvement Initiative (SII) in Khayelitsha with partner schools, on the ACE Educational Management and Leadership programme and more recently with the first cohort of the Advanced Diploma in School Leadership and Management as mentor, assessor, lecturer and facilitator. I have also been contracted to quality assure the supervision of the annual systemic evaluation conducted at the majority of public schools in the Western Cape. Throughout my career in teaching and curriculum-specific content generation, I have always regarded the development of learners and students as my highest priority ,
