Vice President, Executive DirectorGoldman Sachs May 2021 - Apr 2023New York, New York, UsVP / Executive Director as part of the Global Markets Division. Working with other senior engineers in the UK, among other places, The usual stuff: runtime performance, scalabilty, tool development, automation and incremental architecture renewal. Mostly involved in a distributed sequencer/event sourcing/app platform that is designed to be agnostic and scalable enough to port over any legacy flow. The intersection between the mutually contradictive needs for performance and for robustly never losing any transaction ever contains some challenging engineering problems. Also various admin/manager stuff mostly related to staffing of new teams and expansion of current teams at the growing Stockholm location. -

Performance engineering. Profiling frameworks. JVM and runtime expert and mentor. Java/C++ 11/14/17. Research and design to ensure that what we ship is future proof. Customer facing high level APIs that transparently hook into the low level code. -

Consulting Member Of Technical StaffOracle May 2008 - Jul 2015Austin, Texas, UsRuntime generalist/futurist.Some of my time spent at Oracle has been in the virtualization team working on ways to run Java without an operating system. After some hardcore low level hacking on the bare metal hypervisor layer, I ended up architecting the Java tools for the platform we used. A proud moment was when we beat physical Linux on an app server load test on virtual hardware. I also wrote a book on runtimes in general and the JRockit JVM in my spare time together with Marcus Hirt - Oracle JRockit - the definitive guide. [https://www.packtpub.com/application-development/oracle-jrockit-definitive-guide]As of September 2011, I was a full time member of the Java language group. We worked on the Java language (e.g. Java 8, dynamic languages on the JVM and core libraries). I was responsible mainly for dynamic language implementations and the architecture and performance engineering required to enable them on the JVM.I contributed a lot to the Nashorn project, and proof of concepted native performance for a dynamic language running on the JVM.Presented at many software conferences. -
Software Engineer, Business Developer, PartnerPlero Media Sep 2010 - Sep 2011SeBootstrapped the business for local startup Plero Media. Business development, software architecture, Mac/Cocoa coding. Plero Media is now part of Cantemo AB, after the two companies decided to fuse, generates positive revenue and is growing organically. -
Staff Engineer, Team Lead, ArchitectBea Systems May 2006 - May 2008UsI ran the compiler group for the JRockit JVM team. I had approximately ten direct reports. This was a lot about platform ubiquity and a lot about performance. We achieved world beating benchmark results against industry giants such as Sun and IBM during this time.Without the "big three" JVMs competing for benchmark scores in a rather cut throat way during this period of time, Java on the server side would be nowhere near the performance it has today. I am proud to have been instrumental in this development. -
Senior Software EngineerBea Systems Feb 2002 - May 2006UsJVM architect for JRockit. JIT compiler lead. Responsible for ports of the original x86 JIT to SPARC, x64 and IA64. JVM internals, memory management, extreme performance engineering aided by a little black magic, and much more. -
PartnerAppeal Software Solutions Jun 2001 - May 2008Appeal Software Solutions was the consulting arm of Appeal Virtual Machines. I worked with recruitment of good consultants and various consulting jobs, as a side gig to my JVM architecture and business development work for Appeal Virtual Machines. These jobs were usually fairly short, like performance tuning for a customer or holding courses. Appeal Software Solutions was liquidated in 2008 due to the founders pursuing other projects and employments.

PartnerAppeal Virtual Machines Jan 1999 - Feb 2002IT entrepreneur. Appeal Virtual Machines was founded in 1998. Its flagship product was JRockit, the JVM later to be acquired by BEA Systems in 2002. I've been all over the JVM product, but mostly I was doing code generation and compilers for different platforms. Part of the job can also be described as business development / business intelligence, representing the company in different situations, parachuting in behind enemy lines and figuring stuff out. Your typical startup. I spent a lot of time in Silicon Valley. -
Software EngineerId2 Technologies Mar 1998 - Dec 1998iD2 technologies was an in house security startup founded by AU-System, a medium sized Swedish consulting and product company. I worked as Software Engineer with security solutions for public key infrastructure. This was mostly done in Java as part of the product team, but I hacked some drivers for smart card readers on *nixes, optimized cryptography code and similar low level work.
