I am Yim, Lai-Sum (Sam), a recent graduate with a Master's in Robotics from NYCU in Taiwan. Proficient in mechanical engineering with a focus on prototype design and construction, and skilled in robotic engineering, specializing in remote teleoperation and ROS system design. Currently seeking employment opportunities.Dream, Create, Innovate: My Inspirational Journey:Flintstones: - During my undergraduate years at CCU, I joined the pioneering iGEM team (First team in our school). Despite limited resources and experience, our enthusiasm drove us to achieve a silver medal in the 2017 iGEM competition. I led hardware design, taking Carriex from concept to prototype, igniting my passion for innovation.Putting in the grind and Fueled by hustle and heart :- During my undergraduate studies in CCU, I designed a writing machine, explored simulating vampire-to-human foot interactions, and worked on indoor tracking between quadcopters and cars. I also participated in ASME Taiwan SPDC and the BraunPrice Competition. Despite on these projects, I gained valuable experience in mechanical/product design, CAD modeling, CAE simulation analysis, machining, control systems, and sensor data collection and processing.- During my MS program In NYCU, I joined professor Nick Wang's Assistive Robotics Group(ARG) lab, leveraging my mechanical engineering expertise to oversee hardware design and maintenance. My research on VR-based teleoperated robot arms was published in IEEE/IROS 2020. Additionally, during a visiting period at professor Lap-Fai (Craig) Yu's DCXR group at GMU, I expanded my research with optical tactile sensors for the robot gripper. I also participated in Robotx2022 with my labmates, securing a remarkable 3rd place among 20 competing teams.
