My duty as a research assistant was to conduct qualitative interviews with young adults who had recently emancipated from foster care in order to assess their educational attainment, goals, and barriers to achieving those goals.

As an MSW organizing intern, I was responsible for organizing a city-wide convening for Parent Advocates. I interviewed Advocates to assess the experiences, needs, and desires of this workforce and created an agenda through which Advocates could discuss these experiences collaboratively. I also analyzed data on the effectiveness of having Parent Advocates present during Child Safety Conferences using SPSS and Excel.

As a case manager I was primarily responsible for supporting 10-15 low-income women enrolled in the First Step Job Training Program. I helped students set personal and professional goals and provided feedback when these goals were not being met. I also designed and facilitated workshops that aimed to bolster communication and problem solving skills, as well as self esteem and sense of identity. Finally, I conducted intake assessments with prospective students.
