As a graphic artist at the store level, my primary goal was to create a visual environment to promote products and support sales. While ensuring brand consistency in execution of global and regional marketing materials, I also created custom art in the form of chalkboard illustrations, and designed marketing materials for events and customer messaging. While ensuring brand consistency in execution of global and regional marketing materials, I also created custom art in the form of chalkboard illustrations, and designed marketing materials for events and customer messaging. I worked closely with store leadership to bring their visions to life, and I was often balancing multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment. Problem solving was a huge part of what my job, as well as multitasking, prioritizing and creating a clear image from an ambiguous vision. Being the sole artist in the store, I also oversaw quality and relevance for all product price signage, and maintained inventory for sign materials. Show less

During my marketing internship, I had the opportunity to use my graphic design skills to create pieces for internal projects, such as event flyers and t-shirt designs for the corporate baseball team and company picnics. I assisted the marketing department staff with detailed projects to prepare for national trade shows, such as binder prep, data entry and inventory counting.

Holt, Mi

My time at Fibertec was spent traveling around the state to various demolition and asbestos abatement projects, including Michigan State University, Central Michigan University and a variety of small businesses. I collected air samples and analyzed them on-site using a microscope. Asbestos can be a dangerous material if not handled properly, and I made sure to practice proper working habits to keep myself the construction staff safe.

As the intern for the Michigan Sierra Club Chapter, I assisted the chapter organizer in preparing for events and recruiting lobbyists. I also had the opportunity to write articles for the newsletter and make a lot of great connections in the mid-Michigan area.

Wixom, Mi

I had the joy of working at one of Michigan's State Parks each summer during college. I worked in the campground office checking in campers and completing reservations, while keeping an eye out for recreation safety and alerting authorities to any issues. I worked at a boat launch as well, as a compliance officer for sales of day passes.
