Kitty Lai is a young Hong Kong Soprano. She is currently studying Early Music Vocal Studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (Royal Conservatory The Hague) in the Netherlands, with her principal teachers Rita Dams and Noa Frenkel. Under the guidance of Jill Feldman, Dorothée Mields, Peter Kooij, Pascal Bertin, Robin Blaze and Francesca Aspromonte, she has developed a keen interest in music of the Baroque era.Kitty started her musical training at the age of 6 with her violin teachers, Sheung Ying and Cindy Chen. After receiving her first degree in Linguistics and Language Technology from City University of Hong Kong, she discovered her passion in language and singing. She then began her vocal training with Chan Siu-kwan, with whom she graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Music with first-class honours in Hong Kong Baptist University. During her study, she received different scholarships and was also selected as Young Music Makers 2017 by Radio Television Hong Kong.After studying at Royal Conservatory The Hague, Kitty has the opportunity to perform in different baroque operas. She sang the role Sangaride from Atys conducted by Sébastien Marq, appeared as a soloist in productions with Michael Chance on Purcell’s Fairy Queen, Monteverdi’s Love in the Time of War, and participated in Cavalli’s Giasone. Kitty often appeared as a soloist singing oratorio, especially Bach’s cantatas. The most recent performances include Sie werden euch in den Bann tun (BWV 44), Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin (BWV 144), Christus, der ist mein Leben (BWV 95). Kitty also has a keen interest in Digital Marketing. She is currently working as Marketing Manager in Kohiraifu.
