About Lainy Russell
Using my years of experience in senior roles mixed with my love of all things science-based, I learned the importance of neuroscience, linked with our biology, our environment, our culture and the whole psychology of values, beliefs and why we are motivated (or not) on performance and success.I then looked at traditional coaching, counselling, training and mentoring and realised these things in isolation can be very useful, but putting them all together in a power packed way of 'coaching and training' was far more dynamic and the results were faster, more impactful and longer lasting. My testimonials and incidential comments every week back up my theory, that supporting people in firstly understanding why things happen, how they can influence almost any situation and how to manage under pressure and in challening situations, really turns things around in ways most people have never experienced before. So 2024 is the year to help organisations and indivduals turn things around, find success and reach their goals!
Listed skills include Staff Development, Training, Coaching, Change Management, and 39 others.

Current
Post-16 National Programme Lead
Leading and developing the Post-16 Programme Nationally, attracting funding
Achievement Coach
Post 16 Lead for UKsadly AfA went into administration during the tale end of the pandemic but I continue to grow Flourish Initially I worked on the post-16 pilot for Achievement for All, my role consists of developing the programme, writing the resources for both colleges and other coaches, training and mentoring coaching and working closely with senior managers and their teams to effect change in outcomes for students at risk of not reaching their potential, at risk of not completing, attending or progressing. This role involves training, coaching and mentoring and developing, motivating and raising performance of teams and individuals. The programme is bespoke to each setting and both resources and training sessions are in constant development and being adapted. I also worked on some school projects when the programme was being refreshed and spent time working on resources and marketing materials.
Assistant Principal
Lead duties: Funding and admissions/linked with Finance Department, business development, relationship management and communications/linked with Marketing Department, contract negotiation, contract management and audit, transition and careers service, alumni, equality, diversity and inclusion and administration, data collection and systems and processes.Part of the Treloar strategic leadership team, working through some extremely challenging times that have now been overcome. The leadership team have restructured the organisation twice in 5 years with two different Principals and changed the way the whole organisation is run. My role was to work within both the school and the FE college, and within all multidisciplinary areas (teaching, technology, therapy, nursing, care). I was fully responsible for ensuring we hit student, and therefore, financial targets. As stated above, I led on contract negotiation and particularly through very difficult times for the organisation when our intake of students was capped by the Learning and Skills Council. At this time our reputation had taken a substantial hit due to a safeguarding incident, details of which are in the public domain. I managed to persuade Local Authorities to still place students with us and secured future placements and funding. I built all of the relationships and partnerships with Local Authorities at this time which meant we were able to gain continued work after the cap was lifted and both CQC and Ofsted had re-inspected the college provision and moved us from inadequate to good. I am also a trained child protection officer for the organisation and undertook safeguarding on-call duties.
Head Of Adult Learning
I was asked to become the Curriculum and Quality Development Manager, due to my extensive FE experience, especially as the adult learning service needed a more robust Self Assessment Report (SAR) and evidence of informed curriculum planning for external regulators. The first SAR I produced was regarded by the Learning and Skills Council as the best they had seen come from Ealing. I was then asked to look at the risks to the next Ofsted inspection. In my first 3 months I reported back on the issues that I knew would result in an inadequate grade should Ofsted come in at that time. After the two lead people for Adult Learning left, I was asked if I wanted to take on the task of rebuilding the service and so I became Interim Adult Learning Manager. Ofsted came in shortly after this time and as predicted we got an inadequate grade. I then restructured the whole service and its delivery. I delivered extensive training in teaching and learning to all of the part-time, remote working staff and also started to build partnerships with community groups and embedded quality procedures in all of them. Teachers and providers who did not meet the correct standards were parted with. This was an intense time of improvement and I had to build managers’ confidence and motivation rather quickly in order to succeed.Within 12 months the service gained a satisfactory grade with acknowledgement to the ongoing improvements and the capacity to sustain them. I then became the permanent post holder of Adult Learning Manager and the service further developed, improved, grew in size and had the capacity to attract external contracts.
Interim Training Manager For Jupiter House
Jupiter House in Hayes Middlesex provides accommodation for homeless 16-25 year olds who wish to work or study. There is a full training and IT suite that I managed on behalf of the contract held with Uxbridge College. Working closely with the team of key workers, I developed and maintained the training opportunities for this young and vulnerable group of students, often with behaviourial and emotional difficulties.
Director
I owned this language school in a small town in Majorca which had private clients and school age children and government funded contracts to provide language training to employees in the tourist industry.
Course Team Leader
I ran a very successful and large hairdressing department within the college, where the team gained a grade 1 Ofsted outcome. In August 2001 I was made CTL for education and training with .5 of the post working directly with the Vice Principal on staff development and training. I ran, taught and assessed on the City and Guilds 7307 stages 1 and 2, Cert Ed and PGCE qualification for internal and external candidates and assisted with the train the trainer courses. Part of my role was to visit Hotels and businesses (this included Glaxo, some Heathrow and London hotels and The London Lighthouse) and deliver train the trainer programmes for various levels of staff, making it appropriate to their position. Within the college, I researched training needed for all staff, not just teachers, and then designed packages which then gained approval from the Vice Principal to proceed. I delivered packages to teams of staff, and gained feedback to further review and improve our staff training.
