Hello! I’m Laís Bacci, an International Relations professional with a strong background in migration, legal protection, and humanitarian support. With a comprehensive academic foundation and diverse professional experiences, I am passionate about advancing human rights and providing meaningful support to vulnerable communities. I hold a Degree in International Relations from PUC Minas (2019), a Postgraduate degree in Political Scenario Analysis, Conflict Resolution, and Negotiation for Peace from CEUB (2022), and I am currently pursuing a Master's in International Policy Analysis and Management at PUC Rio (expected July 2024) and a Postgraduate degree in International Law at the Centro de Direito e Negócios (expected December 2024).In my professional journey, I have had the privilege of working as a volunteer with Red Cross Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, where I provide technical support, psychosocial assistance, and advocacy for refugees and their families. At PARES CÁRITAS, I offer legal assistance to refugees and migrants, focusing on vulnerable populations and facilitating access to documentation and public services. Additionally, my experience as an Administrative Analyst at MPE Engenharia allowed me to manage project planning, contract administration, and legal support for labor processes.I am certified in Psychological First Aid and Basic Life Support by the Brazilian Red Cross. I have also completed the UN Civil-Military Cooperation Internship and a course on Mediation and Conflict Resolution by CCOPAB, and a Human Rights course by CEDIN. My publication, "The Limits of UNAMIR and Its Consequences on the Evolution of Peace Operations," was featured in the Scientific Journal of Applied Social and Clinical Science in 2023.I am fluent in Portuguese and English, with advanced proficiency in Spanish and basic knowledge of French. I pride myself on being proactive, adaptable, and possessing excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Protect AssistantServiço Pastoral Do Migrante - Spm Aug 2024 - Oct 2024Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, BrasilI currently work at the Serviço Pastoral para Migrantes in the EuroPana project, which is currently in its 5th phase. The EuroPana project aims to contribute to ensuring safe and informed migration, as well as filling critical gaps in humanitarian assistance and integration of migrants in vulnerable situations and is funded by Caritas Switzerland and ECHO. I work as a protection assistant to support the implementation of the protection objectives of the EuroPana projects. The protection objectives of the project include identifying, analysing and documenting protection risks for vulnerable individuals or groups or those at imminent risk, developing an action plan to mitigate risks and case management and follow-up to ensure the safety of the people involved. In addition to providing individual protection assistance, I also liaise with local bodies and organisations so that we can work together, and when necessary, I refer migrants to specialised services, strengthening protection actions. In this way, I maintain good relations with local authorities and humanitarian actors. I also organise and facilitate group and individual information sessions and monthly awareness campaigns. I participate in training and feedback sessions on protection actions, providing training on humanitarian principles and protection risk mitigation strategies. Finally, I do administrative work such as feeding the data that has been collected into the SPM system in conjunction with Caritas Switzerland and Echo so that our funders are always aware of our work in the field (system used: SMASH and KOBO). -
