As Chair of the Higher Education & Collegiate Athletics practice, I focus on the higher education industry, representing colleges and universities on a full range of topics including federal and state regulatory compliance, accreditation, state licensure, institutional governance, mergers, acquisitions, federal and state higher education policy, government affairs and collegiate sports and NCAA compliance-related matters. I regularly advise clients on matters including student discipline, student accommodations, Title IX compliance including complaints and investigations, FERPA, and other federal regulations. I bring a vast working experience and knowledge of the laws, regulations and informal guidance that together govern institutional participation in the programs of student financial assistance under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. I have managed all facets of student litigation, representing an institution when dealing with the Department of Education, Title IV program reviews, and federal and state cases.I have experience representing educational institutions with respect to the structuring and execution of a broad range of transactional, restructuring, finance, and corporate governance matters. In addition, in the collegiate athletics area, I handle NCAA certification issues, compliance reviews, infractions and appeals, student-athlete eligibility and waivers, investigations and Title IX matters.

City by the Lake Sports, LLC (“CBL Sports”) is one of the largest recreational sports leagues servicing a myriad of professionals throughout the city of Chicago. Our mission is to serve various communities by providing safe, social outlets for athletes that encourage healthy competition and fitness, and shine a positive light on the communities in which we operate. We partner with strategic organizations and establish altruistic relationships to promote our league and "fitness awareness". Whereas many sport leagues only promote fun, our league encourages exercise and fitness. CBL Sports league members are professionals from all walks of life representing the entire Chicago metropolis. Our members are dedicated to our league because of our professionalism and the stress relief that it offers.

As Associate Vice President & Counsel for TCS Education System (“TCS ES”), an entrepreneurial, not-for-profit educational system based in Chicago, Illinois, I managed the corporate legal affairs of TCS ES and its affiliated institutions. Areas of expertise consist of: Higher Education Policy; Regulatory Affairs and Compliance; Corporate Transactions; Corporate Compliance; Corporate Governance; Litigation; Board Relations; Business Development; Mergers & Acquisitions; Intellectual Property; Real Estate; and Employment Matters.

I wrote legislation and rules for the leading association that regulates college athletics. I collaborated with member institutions to ensure rules are fair, functional and clear. I advised Enforcement staff on issues related to NCAA rule violations and sanctions. Conducted outreach on ways to develop plans that would keep schools in academic compliance. I managed the Supplemental Support Fund which distributed funds to academic programs at disadvantaged universities.

I investigated and developed technical documentation for re-engineering aspects of human resource and payroll systems for government agencies. I presented to various government agencies on successful integration of new software and systems that were designed to meet their business needs. I performed strategic assessments of clients’ business concerns and designed solutions. I negotiated contracts between technical hardware and software vendors and Accenture.
