I got firsthand exposure to legal issues, civil and criminal cases, and the general way in which our federal court system works. My Experience:- Observed civil litigations/settlement conferences between real plaintiffs and defendants- Observed criminal sentencing hearings and plea deals. I observed how federal prosecutors use the rule of evidence and how jury selection in a trial works.- Learned how to use legal data bases like Hein Online, Reuters Westlaw, and Lexis Nexis for research.- Used the Bluebook to learn legal citations- Wrote a research paper about Miranda v. Arizona and precedent cases. I am examined the fifth amendment and the Supreme Court's interpretation of what it means to be "in custody."
