Topics covered include Basic Organic Chemistry; Reaction mechanism; IUPAC nomenclature; Chemistry of following class of compounds: hydrocarbons, halides, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, acids and acid derivatives, amines, epoxides; chemistry of enolates; aromaticity and electrophilic aromatic substitutions ; chemistry of phenols ; chemistry of heterocyclic compounds ; photochemistry; stereochemistry; spectroscopy ( IR/UV/PMR /CMR/Mass) ; carbohydrates; biomolecules ; organometallics; Pericyclic reactions; Radical mediated reactionsOTHER ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:• Actively involved in the “National Chemistry Olympiad program” and the “National Initiative in Undergraduate Science (NIUS)” program of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, (HBCSE, TIFR) Mumbai as Resource person & Guide .• Invited to be a reviewer for the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning programme of IIT, Bombay for the course on Organic Chemistry• Organised several workshops in collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry, West India Section and Chemical Research Society of India –Western Region for UG & PG students.• Initiated annual publication of Inhouse magazine VAZE CHEMICA in 2009.• Actively using ICT in classroom teaching, via Google classroom.• Developed You tube videos and PPTs with audio and sharing them as resources in Google classroom.
