Hi there!My name is Lal (she/her) and I am a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia, majoring in International Relations with a minor in Economics. I was born and raised in Istanbul and now I am beyond grateful to call Vancouver my “home away from home”.I have competitively debated in high school and our discussions were solely based on global issues so I decided to lean towards International Relations. Additionally, the geopolitical location of my hometown affected my decision with my academic goals. This unique program at UBC not only gave me the opportunity to take courses in different fields but also allowed me to explore my interest towards environmental issues and how to make our planet earth become a more sustainable place.As a current Sustainability Consultant Intern, I am eager to learn more about the corporate world and to have a better understanding of the world, I am supporting my studies with a minor in Economics where I focus on courses related to international economics and sustainability. By focusing on global sustainability from different social sciences disciplines, I hope to make meaningful impacts one day.During my free time, you can find me outside biking around, running, or any activity that would allow me to be in the outdoors.
