Hello there!I'm Lale, a sophomore at Northwestern University pursuing Journalism with a keen interest in data journalism, politics and law. I am also a documentary creator and enthusiast, constantly searching for new stories around the globe.I am interested in conducting research in the academic field and started my journey as a research assistant at Northwestern. During the summer, I had the chance to do my first research with Prof. Ilhem Allagui, working on women's leadership in creative industries. Currently, I'm part of an interdisciplinary research team led by Prof. Eddy Borges-Rey, examining the future of digital citizenship in Qatar. I hope to utilize my experience in research and statistics to conduct research on missing children and child protection. My passion lies in using data-driven approaches to address social issues and create meaningful change.As one of the 2024 Northwestern Language Grant recipients, I had the chance to specialize in Arabic and French in an immersive and intensive language program in Rabat, Morocco. This opportunity allowed me to immerse myself in Moroccan culture and improve my language skills through intensive study and real-world practice.I further serve to Wildcat community as a Peer Tutor at the NU-Q Writing Center, where I assist students in enhancing their writing skills. My role involves providing personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to each student's needs. I help students brainstorm ideas, outline their thoughts, and draft both academic and journalistic pieces.With a commitment to storytelling and a drive to create impactful change, I am always on the lookout for new challenges and opportunities to grow.
