As an employee of RT-RK Computer Based Systems LLC, I was involved in Digital TV software design and development on Embedded Linux platforms (Broadcomm and Mstar SoC) and I had a chance to work on, and gain experience of, all layers of software - from driver level (embedded C and Assembler languages), through middleware, and up to application layer and GUI (C++ language).
