Intermodal Trade Development ManagerMaryland Port Administration Jun 2014 - Sep 2015Reporting to the MPA Director of Intermodal, this position serves as the day to day liaison between intermodal rail operators, intermodal truck operators and the Maryland Port Administration personnel. Attend Maryland Department of Transportation meetings as directed/requested. Develop, modify, implement, and insures compliance with MPA railroad and trucking operational procedures for all personnel who are performing railroad related operations at the Port of Baltimore. Formulate strategies to improve intermodal efficiencies. Identify and promote current and future intermodal rail capabilities. Identify and promote current and future ocean carrier abilities and promote existing and potential trucking advantages.Develop a strong understanding of the supply chain needs of beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) to introduce and facilitate new programs and initiatives to drive their intermodal business to the Port of Baltimore. Analyze trade data to target BCOs that could benefit from using the Port of Baltimore. Produce comprehensive presentations that illustrate the logistical advantages for BCOs to use Port of Baltimore with specific data on ocean, rail, and trucking capabilities. Create and monitor two independent real time national computer databases of inbound railroad traffic destined for the Port of Baltimore. One shows cargo moving on Norfolk Southern rail and the other for cargo on CSXT rail. When rail interchanges occur with short line railroads and/or western carriers CP, UP and BNSF monitor interchange dwell time and report excessive time loss that could impact vessel loading at the Port of Baltimore. *Additional DutiesHandle all duties of the Manager of Intermodal Port services reporting to the MPA Director of Operations.

Manager Of IntermodalMaryland Port Administration Jan 2013 - Jun 2014Serve as the day-to-day manager of MPA’s rail and truck logistics operations and the handling of all associated issues. Serve as the primary point of contact for all rail and trucking logistical communications for the Port of Baltimore. Serve as MPA liaison with all Class I and short line railroads that service port facilities. Conduct daily operational scans of MPA rail/truck operations tracking current and future capacity. Develop and plan for future truck/rail improvement projects that increase efficiency and safety in an environmentally correct way. Serve as project manager for the development of truck/rail improvement projects; this includes working with multi-discipline teams from concept through implementation-Planning Dept., Environmental Dept., Engineering, etc...Communicate with various MPA employees and outside state agencies and associations to address railroad and trucking logistical operations issues. Work with and act as liaison to Maryland State Highway Administration, Maryland Transportation Authority, City of Baltimore, Maryland Motor Truck Association, and The Specialized Carriers and Riggers Association on the movement of dimensional and oversized cargo. Establish relationships with counterparts in other U.S ports for the purpose of determining best practices for truck and rail operations in a marine terminal environment. Conduct continuous study and analysis of tariffs, rates and inland supply chains to evaluate the relative competitive position of the Port of Baltimore. Responsible for the development of a Baltimore metropolitan area warehouse facilities database and maintain that data base in order to advise Port of Baltimore customers of facilities available to handle their cargo in a professional manner.
