Lamar Blakely started with the Berkeley County Sheriff's office in Feb. 2002 as a Detention officer. Lamar would spend nights off riding along, accumulating over ten thousand hours learning interdiction techniques. Since becoming a Patrol Deputy in August of 2005, Lamar has made hundreds of felony arrest from interdiction stops, that number continues to grow. In 2007, Lamar became the first deputy in history to prevent a terrorist attack. Shortly thereafter, homeland security began the Nationwide SAR Initiative based on the event. Lamar was assigned to the K9 division in 2008 and currently assigned to the United States Marshal's Violent fugitive task force, Operation Intercept. In 2015, he was awarded for being Investigator of the year. Lamar was Nationally recognized when he was consecutively awarded from the National Criminal Enforcement Association for the Most recovered occupied Stolen Vehicles in 2014, 2013 & 2012. Lamar has been publicly recognized in national media by the director of the FBI Robert Mueller. Lamar was presented an award by FBI Deputy Director John Pistole, for his continued service to proactive law enforcement (2009).Lamar was featured in Police Magazine (8/09) & Articles written by Chuck Remsburg on Policeone.com (2012) and Force Science news (2012). Lamar has received such awards as Exceptional Duty Award, Meritorious Duty Award, Terrorist Apprehension award, Employee of the year, Award of Valor from the National Drug Enforcement Officers Association.Lamar has been asked to be guest speaker for ILETA (2012), Several area Schools, U.S. Attorneys Office for South Carolina , West Virginia U.S. Attorneys Office, Trexpo East, Regional Organized Crime Information Center, SC Criminal Justice Conference and University of MIssouri. Lamar has spoken in front of over 3,000 Law Enforcement officers. Lamar is an award winning writer, authoring his first book.
