As a CTO of the company, I developed Web 2.0 Office SaaS service based on Web/Mobile/Desktop. This integrated concept of Web 2.0 Office was exported to worldwide including USA, Japan and Australia. Became Executive Director on July 2004, after completing development of Web Office Platform and commercialized as a leading product in the market. Also the product received various awards, and currently leading the market of Google, MS and Web Office. I also developed a Mobile Office which can be integrated with i-Phone and currently being serviced in Thinkfree.com and a Mobile Office to support MID equipment of Intel and Qualcomm. Domestically, partnered with Naver and supplied Naver Office (http://office.naver.com/). Supplied Telstra Office to Australian company Telsatra and partnered the major S/W company of Japan called Sourcenext to supply Thinkfree Online Office service and product. Furthermore, supplied SaaS model Office to 100 of international institutes including Riders and public libraries in LA. Due to excellent quality of the product, in December 2006, ThinkFree received an offer from Google for M&A. Please refer to the following article for the detail:http://www.hankyung.com/news/app/newsview.php?aid=2006120857831&sid=010481&nid=000<ype=1.Considering mobile market’s potential growth in the near future, ThinkFree decided to focus on the mobile industry, however, Han-Com- the holding company, decided to focus more on Web and Desktop based Office. As I knew Web and Desktop Office platform has been successfully developed, I decided to take the job offer from Samsung to challenge for the new opportunities such as developing Mobile or SaaS B2B.

Aug 2005 - Aug 2008

Chief Executive Officer , Founder

Wisefree

Gangnam-Gu, Seoul, Korea

Raised a start-up capital from angel investors to establish WiseFree - a venture company responsible for developing Knowledge Management a portal product named “WiseEKPTM”. I managed planning, developments, sales and marketing of WiseEKPTM. Additionally, I supervised the creation of our company vision and operations. Afterwards, the company was sold to TopnWise Inc. (the top B2C portal service corporation in Korea) and I became vice president of the solution development center and solution business division. As a Knowledge Management portal product “WiseEKP” was developed, the company accomplished 6 billion Korean won in sales to over 50 private companies and 100 public institutions, including LG-Caltex, LG Siltron, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, KangDongGu Public Office, KangSeoGu Public Office, and DongDaeMoon Public Office. Moreover, the products were also sold worldwide including Solxyz in Japan. As well as corporation portal solutions, WiseFree created consumer-facing portal solutions (WiseGKP) and content management system (WiseCMS) resulting in sales of 10 billion Korean won.Due to the shallow size of the domestic market environment, there were limited opportunities to grow the business so I needed to establish a new business vision. All this time I received a job offer from Kang Tae Jin of Han-Com ThinkFree(currently working as an Executive Director of Samsung Electronics). At that time, ThinkFree was facing the challenge of changing their Java based desktop platform to web based platform and looking for a CTO to manage the development of new products by leading a web platform development group. I accepted the offer because I thought if ThinkFree was converted to a web platform, it will be a successful solution compared to its competitors. It was a whole new challenge for me to dive into a B2C online service as opposed to a B2B business.

May 2000 - Jul 2005

Ceo, Founder

Agentech

Gangnam-Gu, Seoul, Korea

In 1998, founded a venture corporation with a group of Hyundai Information Technology colleagues and I managed the whole process of product development, vision establishment, and general business related issues. And also developed/sold SearchWareTM, which was the first java based search engine in the world at that time (sold to over 100 of companies including SK OK Cashbag, Netsgo and accomplished sales of 5 billion). After successful M&A with ASEA Computer, I decided to establish LAS21 Corporation (1999). The company was composed of over 100 employees and major development was Knowledge Management system. As a CTO and the founder, I have managed the whole process of development of solution and the sales which resulted in developing SearchWareTM, LAS KMSTM, and the first Groupware solution ASP (SaaS) service (MyLASTM) (sold to over 300 of small businesses) and the world first Meta search portal called WAKANOTM (sold to over 50 of institutes including Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, Ministry of foreign Affairs and accomplished sales of 4 billion Korean won). Also successfully raised fund (amount of 10 billion Korean won) from KTB, which is one of the major investment group in Korea. The company used to have global branches in many countries such as Japan, USA, and Germany and now the business is being conducted only in Japan. After few years of running the business, it was merged with Las21 Company. However, after facing some disagreements on the management issues, founders agreed to re-separate the firm. Afterwards, a new company called “WiseFree” was established.

May 1998 - May 2000

Senior Software Developer

Hyundai Electonics

Seoul

In 1994, started my career as a senior researcher in Hyundai Electronics S/W Lab and developed object oriented DBMS and Middleware, and CORBA based data management system by participating in Object-oriented DBMS development project, which was co-led by major corporations such as Hynics Semiconductor, Dong-Yang Communications, Seoul National University, and National Institute of Science. After participating in various projects such as internet portal service called “Ami-net” (referred as SinBiRo, at the present) and developing query processor and applying to EMPRESS DBMS, I received presidential citation and was specially promoted as an executive researcher. After becoming a leader of S/W development team, I played a major role in developing a framework product by introducing CORBA technology of java and distribution Middleware. Also, contributed to 80% increasing Data-warehousing sales by applying CORBA middleware to Data-warehousing solution which was used by Hyundai Department store, Hyundai Motor Group and other major Hyundai divisions (1997). By consulting on integrating java, CORBA, and the internet related technology, I was able to accomplished successful project results and contributed to sales increase. Decided to change occupation because rather than working in a lab which is more of a supporting/back office, wanted to work for a business-related team in which one can work more proactively, but due to unfavorable economic environment(IMF, etc.) the firm could not satisfy my needs, and thus founded Agentech venture company with my colleagues from the lab.
