In 1996, HIV medication moved to a new phase and their effectiveness was proven. The Australian Government provided funding to each state to set up training programs to educate medical practitioners (and other health professionals) in the use of these medications. In Queensland these funds were secured by the University of Queensland School of Medicine. I was employed to set up this education team and develop the training required of medical practitioners across the state.
