I conducted research on optimizing highly efficient polymer thin film solar cells in the McGehee Group by analyzing the effect that charge mobility has on these polymers, especially on their fill factor and recombination, as we increase the thickness of these films. One way to study the effect of mobility in thick films was to study the model P3HT:PCBM system and analyze how charge mobility affects cell performance.

I was a teaching assistant for the introductory physics course on mechanics at Stanford. As a teaching assistant, I led two interactive, problem-solving based sections, held office hours and Physics Tutoring Center hours, led review sessions, and graded assignments and exams.

I served as the resident tutor of Serra, an all-freshman dorm in Stern Hall. In my capacity as a resident tutor, I offered tutoring services for residents and other tutees in introductory math and physics courses. In addition, as a staff member, I helped with both academic and social dorm programming and looked out for the well-being of the residents of Serra.

I conducted research on the mechanical properties of nickel inverse opal structures as part of the Greer Group. During my time with the group, I ran nanoindentation tests on inverse opal structures and analyzed the load-displacement data. In addition, I utilized SolidWorks to visualize the ball-and-stick structure of the inverse opal and calculated formulas for several figures of merit for the inverse opal samples. Inverse opals can be used for photonic crystals and high surface area catalysts.

I conducted research in the fabrication and improvement of semi-transparent solid state dye-sensitized solar cells using silver nanowires as part of the McGehee Group. During my time in the group, I explored various treatments to fix an energetic barrier between the dye-sensitized solar cells and the silver nanowire contact. Semi-transparent solar cells have applications in "solar windows" and tandem cells.
